Privacy & analytics choices
For parents and caregivers: we use basic usage statistics to understand which adventures are helpful and where the website needs improvement.
What stays in this browser
Your child's custom profile name and optional age stay in this browser. They are not included in analytics or sent to the public Rank board. A random explorer alias, icon color and completed activity IDs are stored in Supabase to keep practice points. The website uses a random device cookie, rather than your IP address, to recognize this explorer.
Online explorer and optional Rank
The random device cookie is protected from page scripts and lasts up to one year. Browser storage also keeps local progress. Clearing cookies can create a new online explorer. This functional profile is separate from optional analytics.
A parent, caregiver or educator can create an account using their own email and password. Authentication is handled by Supabase; the site does not include passwords in analytics or store passwords in the explorer database. Account sessions use protected cookies. Logging in links this browser’s explorer and practice history to the grown-up account.
Community Rank is private by default. A grown-up can choose to publish only the generated alias, icon color, practice points and number of distinct completed activities, and leave the board at any time. Email, custom name, age, IP and answers do not appear on the board. Completion records are reported by the browser and are not verified assessment results. Explorer records remain to maintain the profile; they do not follow the 90-day analytics retention rule.
Country and feedback
We store an approximate two-letter country code for your explorer when the hosting platform provides IP-based geography. We do not store your raw IP in the explorer record. If geography is unavailable, a browser locale with a region may supply a country hint; we record that it came from locale. A language without a region does not identify a country. This information is available only to authorized administrators and is not shown on Rank.
Feedback submitted by a grown-up is stored privately with its category, title, message, browser locale, approximate country and submission time. A protected device code limits repeated submissions. Authorized administrators can review and mark submissions; feedback is not publicly posted. Do not include sensitive information. You can use the feedback form for account or data-related requests.
What the website counts
Page views, short-lived visit sessions, mission starts and finishes, the last mission step reached, elapsed time, website language, device category and referring website domain. We do not collect answers or full referring URLs.
The server processes a network IP address to create protected codes that change each day. Our analytics database does not store the original IP address. These codes are pseudonymous estimates, not a count of individual children. They are not used for advertising.
Usage records are retained for up to 90 days, with deletion during the next daily collection cycle. Reports are available only to authorized administrators. Hosting infrastructure separately processes network requests to serve the site.
Turning statistics off stops future collection; it does not erase previously counted records. This choice does not affect missions or saved progress. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are also respected.
