Write Down the Tokens

Milo used five of his six paper tokens, but the next stall makes him wonder what remains. Help him keep a short spending note and check the envelope.

What we practice

Keep a Tiny Spending Record

Use one short line and physical counters so record-keeping feels like support, not surveillance.

Why did Milo use both a note and the envelope? What should the team do if the two do not match?

1. Put five paper tokens in an envelope. 2. Move one or two to a pretend shop and record START, USED and LEFT with numbers or dots. 3. Count the envelope together and update the note if needed. Avoid surprise tests, accusations or using the activity to monitor the child’s real belongings. Adults manage real accounts and purchases.
