When the Plan Changes
The kite card becomes unavailable before Milo finishes saving. Help him protect his tokens, ask questions and choose a new next step.

What we practice
- Pause when a price, rule or item changes and ask for clear information.
- Keep saved resources safe while considering more than one next step.
- Choose to wait, change the goal or stop without blame or pressure.
Practice a Plan Change Without Blame
Model pausing and preserving options when a pretend price, rule or item changes.
What information would help before choosing again? Which options can stay open?
1. Make a pretend four-counter goal and place two paper counters on it. Then mark the picture “not available today.” 2. Model keeping counters safe and asking what changed. Offer waiting, a new drawing or ending the game; do not force quick positivity. 3. Let the child revise the picture or stop. Adults handle real shortages, prices and family budgets. Never suggest that a child caused financial stress or must give up necessities to reach a goal.
