Switch the Jobs
The bridge plan is ready, but Ari’s decorating job stops feeling comfortable. Help the team change roles without blame and keep every needed task covered.
Start mission
What we practice
- Ask what job and communication style each person prefers.
- Treat a request to switch as information, not failure.
- Reassign work safely while adults remain responsible for tools.
Practice a No-Blame Role Switch
Use pretend jobs so changing a role feels like updating a plan, not quitting or failing.
What changed when Ari spoke up? How did the team make sure the switch did not leave another job undone?
1. Make three picture cards for a tiny pretend project: arrange toys, place napkins, check the setup. 2. Each person chooses a role using speech, pointing or a card. 3. Invite one optional switch and move the cards together. Check that no job disappeared and do not load two jobs onto someone without asking. Keep real tools, food safety and supervision with the adult.
