Make a Picture Plan
Ari joins the block route, but the next cards keep getting mixed. Help the team put the steps where everyone can see and use them.
Start mission
What we practice
- Put task steps in a visible order instead of relying only on memory.
- Mark one step complete before choosing the next.
- Change the support when a checklist or picture is not working.
Build a Three-Card Plan
Use visible steps to reduce memory demands; the cards support the child rather than grade them.
Why did the team move a finished card? What could they change if a picture is hard to understand?
1. Pick a familiar, low-stakes task and draw no more than three simple cards. 2. Let the child arrange or point to the order, then move each completed card to a “done” space. 3. Ask, “Are these cards helping, or should we change them?” Shorten, redraw or stop if needed. Do not use the cards to demand speed or perfect compliance. Adults still check safety, materials and whether the task is appropriate.
