It’s Noisy Here. I Need a Quieter Place.
Milo likes making crafts, but the sounds in the room feel uncomfortable. Help him say what he needs and find a quieter place with his teacher.
Start mission
What we practice
- Notice when sounds feel uncomfortable.
- Tell or show a grown-up what you need.
- Choose a quieter place and a suitable activity with a grown-up.
Try together: A break signal
When your child is comfortable, agree on a signal for asking to go somewhere quieter.
When talking feels hard, what signal would you like to use?
Choose a quieter place together where a grown-up can stay nearby. Agree on the words “I need a quieter place” or a pointing gesture. Role-play during playtime: your child uses the signal and you say, “I hear you. Let’s find a place together.” Offer resting, looking at a book or drawing. Do not create noise to test your child or insist on an immediate return. If the chosen place is still too noisy, find another together.
